Japan Society hosts a lecture by PEN/Faulkner and Asian American Literary Award-winning author Julie Otsuka as part of Japan Society’s Stories from the War Series, marking the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII. Author of the spellbinding novel When the Emperor Was Divine, an in-depth and riveting portrayal of a Japanese American family during its WWII internment, she will speak on writing on the events and themes surrounding World War II. Joining her on stage will be The New York Times columnist and Columbia University professor Samuel G. Freedman and actress Aya Ogawa, who will perform an on-stage reading.
The event will be followed by a reception.
