Tokyo Tapas Café – 7 Cornelia Street
Okinawan songwriter and sanshin player will perform at Tokyo Tapas Café on Tuesday.
Called an “Okinawan cultural coordinator” by the Ryukyu Shimpo, Takane learned how to play sanshin from his grandfather. He moved to Tokyo at the age of 20 and currently resides with his wife and daughter in Kanagawa, about an hour’s drive from Tokyo.
To expose the unique culture of Okinawa, Takane travels the world performing his own as well as traditional Okinawan songs.
