IN THE BOX is a new Dance Theater collaboration between Bessie Award winner Miki Orihara of the Martha Graham Dance Company and acclaimed director and theatrical visual effects specialist nissy. This world premiere dance theater project is choreographed by and starring Orihara, written and directed by nissy, features a performance by Nana Tsuda with original music by award-winning Sony Music Recording Artist Senri Oe.

Inspired by Schrödinger‘s cat (quantum mechanics), this experimental theater piece opens the book of our lives in a paradoxical nature. The latest theatrical visual effects from Japan such as motion sensor lighting follow two dancers’ every step and move, and computer graphics and flood lighting play with flesh and bones while three-dimensional sounds stimulate the senses. IN THE BOX portrays the process in search for the meaning of life, and it challenges the audience members to find their own “box.”
