Hatsune Miku, the blue-haired, crowd-sourced, virtual 3D singer from Japan, returns to New York for two performances at Hammerstein Ballroom.
With more than 2.5 million Facebook followers, the vocaloid is the inspiration for videos, illustrations, figurines, 3D models, anime, and cosplay. Her name literally means “first sound from the future,” and Crypton Future Media, Inc. developed her software to allow users to create content as well as connect with other fans worldwide. Crypton Future Media CEO Hiroyuki Itoh has visited New York several times to speak at various Japan Foundation and New York Comic Con panels, and he’s brought Hatsune Miku to the city as well.
Now the 3D program is embarking on her largest North American tour ever, known as Miku Expo 2016, which will bring her unique brand of music and 3D special effects to eight cities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
