Maiko Souda Soprano Recital

Soprano Maiko Souda will perform a medley of Japanese songs as well as arias from Madama Butterfly and duets from L’elisir d’amore, L’amico Fritz, and more.
A graduate of Tokyo College of Music, Souda is a member of Tokyo Nikikai, the largest opera foundation in Japan. She has performed various roles in operas, including Adina in L’elisir d’amore, La Contessa in The Marriage of Figaro, and Pamina in The Magic Flute.
She studied at The Juilliard School under Maestro Vincent La Selva, and she currently studies under Maestro Francisco Casanova, who is one of her special guests. Souda participated in the Six Annual Circle Wind Concert held at Merkin Concert Hall in September 2013 and the Second Japan-US Chorus Festival held at Carnegie Hall in October in 2013.
Recently she released her new CD, The Beauty of Nature.
Souda’s special guests will be tenor Francisco Casanova, who was the first non-Italian singer ever to receive the Beniamino Gigli d’Oro; Yoko Reikano Kimura, a koto/shamisen performer and singer who received first prize at the prestigious 10th Kenjun Memorial National Koto Competition; and pianist Yumi Hashimoto, who holds a Masters Degree in classical piano from the Manhattan School of Music.
