The Circle Wind Concert commemorates the 9/11 tragedy and the 3/11 tsunami disaster in Japan. This year it will also support people suffering from a series of earthquakes in the Kumamoto area.

Documentary film director Kyoko Gasha, who is also an anchor and senior producer for Reuters Television, will emcee the program. Wild Samurai “Nobushi,” a leading wadaiko (traditional Japanese drum) group, and Hitoyoshi Nebuka Taiko, a junior wadaiko team, come to New York from Japan for an energetic and powerful performance. Ayako Shirasaki Jazz Trio, an acclaimed jazz trio; The Bear Necessities, an a cappella chorus from Brown University; and Japan Choral Harmony “TOMO” will also perform at this annual concert. Circle Wind Boys & Girls Choir, which was formed this summer with 35 Japanese speaking elementary and middle school students living in New York area, will make their official debut.
