Rubin Museum of Art – 150 W. 17th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues)

Spiral Music presents acoustic music every Wednesday evening at the base of the Rubin Museum’s spiral staircase. Artists who specialize in music from the Himalayas and South Asia are invited to forge a connection between their music and the art in the galleries.

New York–based koto/shamisen player and singer Yoko Reikano Kimura and cellist Hikaru Tamaki create a singular sound inspired by tradition but with a contemporary sensibility. Duo Yumeno’s repertoire includes a dynamic range of compositions, all of which explore the dialogue between classical Japanese and Western music.
