Kaede NYC’s Japanese-Style Halloween Party
Saturday, October 29 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Kaede NYC – 45 W. 34th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues), Suite 1107
Kaede NYC, a fashion consultancy that specializes in Japanese kimono rental and styling, invites kimono enthusiasts to spend the day at their Japanese-style Halloween party. Wear your best Halloween- or fall-themed kimono and enjoy the free photo shoot, prizes, and a Japanese horror movie marathon.
There will be a kimono swap meet, so bring your kimono and kimono accessories to exchange with other guests.
Participate in the Kimono and Costume/Cosplay Contest in one of three categories: Best Autumn-Themed Kimono, Best Halloween-Themed Kimono, or Best Rendition of a Character Wearing Kimono in an Anime or Manga (Cosplay). For the traditional kimono categories, contestants will be judged on kitsuke, or the art of using proper technique to dress in and wear kimono. For the Cosplay/Character category, contestants will be judged on how close their representations of their characters’ kimono are. RSVP to the event’s Facebook page to enter; day-of entries will be accepted. All contestants must be present to win.
There will be a “Best in Show” cash prize of $150 for the best in all three categories, and there will also be a fan favorite prize that will be awarded after the event.
This event is a great opportunity to show off their fantastic kimonos and meet fellow kimono enthusiasts.
