New York-based Japanese jazz singer TAEKO returns to the world famous Birdland Jazz with Ray Gallon on piano, Will Slater on bass and Tommy Campbell on drums.
Growing up in Japan, TAEKO was inspired early on by the traditional Japanese music her father and grandfather sang, but her interest in American music was piqued while still a young child. In her formative musical years, she counts traditional jazz, modern American music, and Eastern music among the influences shaping her contemporary vocal style.
TAEKO moved to New York in the late 1990s and quickly garnered the nickname “Songbird” from the NYC jazz elite.
