"ANPO" Nominated for Best Documentary Film

Linda Hoaglund, Producer & Director of ANPO: Art x War

Congratulations to ANPO: Art x War on being nominated for Best Documentary Film by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs.

Produced and directed by Linda Hoaglund, ANPO: Art x War tells the story of Japanese resistance to US military bases through art. Hoaglund, who was born and raised in Japan, interviews artists, photographers, and filmmakers whose creative expression served as an outlet for their traumatic experiences of war as well as a record of the national dissatisfaction with the extension of ANPO, the US-Japan Mutual Security Treaty.

ANPO: Art x War premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and has been screened at major universities. It is currently being shown at the Guggenheim Museum, with remaining screenings on Friday, September 16 and Friday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
