World Sake Day Blind Tasting

Tuesday, October 1 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Brooklyn Kura – 68 34th Street, Brooklyn

Admission: $20

October 1 is World Sake Day, the symbolic start of Japan’s sake brewing season. Just after the rice harvest and leading into winter, which is the best time for fermentation, it’s the perfect day celebrate. The Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association declared World Sake Day an official observance in 1978.

What better way to celebrate than with a blind tasting at New York’s first sake brewery, Brooklyn Kura? Hosted by the American Sake Association, the blind tasting combines the enjoyment of drinking sake with learning about the beverage. With blind tasting, we are not influenced by the sake’s packaging, brand name, price, or anything else. Tasting practice is an essential way to hone our senses and to grow our appreciation for sake.
