Admission: Free

Maya’s Hope and soprano Kay Habana present a musical spectacular for children and adults with special needs at Our Lady of Pompeii Shrine. A non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned, impoverished, and special-needs children around the world, Maya’s Hope provides funding and access to medical care.

In addition to Habana, other performers include singer John Pio, dancer Morgan McEwen, ballerina Natalia Sheptalova, guitarist Michael Dapap, percussionist Bryan Garbe, and concert pianist Gohei Nishikawa.

In 2003 Nishikawa was diagnosed with a neurological disorder known as dystonia, which causes painful and uncontrollable muscle spasms. It affected his hands to the point he could no longer play piano. Through therapy and perseverance, Nishikawa regained control of his hands and taught himself to play beautifully with only seven fingers. He continues to teach and perform at events, including this one for Maya’s Hope.
