“Hold These Truths” Returns to New York

Hold These Truths

Wednesday, December 6 through Wednesday, December 20

The Sheen Center – 18 Bleecker Street (between Mott and Elizabeth Streets)

Admission: $31 to $51

Jeanne Sakata’s play Hold These Truths will be back in NYC at the Sheen Center for a limited run.

Hold These Truths is a one-man play starring Joel de la Fuente that tells the poignant story of Gordon Hirabayashi, who in 1942 along with Fred Korematsu and Min Yasui heroically challenged the constitutionality of the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII. Since its last run in New York in 2012, Hold These Truths has been staged in multiple venues across the country to great critical praise.

There will be special Community Weekend Matinee performances on Saturday, December 9 or Sunday, December 10. Each of these performances will be followed by a talkback and panel discussion with Jeanne Sakata and New York-based Japanese American community leaders to discuss the history of the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWll and the parallels to our current time when Muslims and other marginalized communities are struggling to preserve their civil liberties.

For a complete schedule and to reserve tickets please visit the Sheen Center’s website. Use the promo code GORDON to receive 20% off the top two ticket prices or the promo code TRUTH to receive 30% off the middle ticket price when you buy 10 or more tickets. The codes are good for any of the performances during the run through December 20.
