JapanCulture•NYC has been prepping for its first booth in Japan Block Fair, which takes place Sunday, October 20 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Broadway between W. 93rd and W. 94th Streets in Manhattan. (For details on the event, please click here.)
We’re showcasing goya champuru, a traditional Okinawan dish.
We’re delighted to have Tamio Spiegel, formerly of the Gohan Society, is serving as executive chef. Other members of the Japanese community are pitching in to help JapanCulture•NYC expand New York’s knowledge of Okinawa in what is consistently an exciting cultural event.
Teiko Tursi, current president of the Okinawa American Association of New York, and OAANY member Eiko Steel will perform at the booth throughout the day and on stage at 1:45 p.m. If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing Okinawan song and dance, you don’t want to miss this.
And you don’t want to miss the goya champuru. See you there!
