JapanCulture•NYC is the official media sponsor of Japan Block Fair!
This street festival that celebrates Japanese culture takes place Sunday, May 20 on Park Avenue between 39th and 40th Streets from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Vendors will line Park Avenue with traditional Japanese goods such as kimono and yukata from YokoDana Kimono and Kiteya and tenugui (Japanese cloth) from wuhao new york. You can also purchase Japanese handbags from Yukiko Sato of Tesage and accessories from Japanning and Cocoro Salon.
Ibaraki Lucy will demonstrate Japanese calligraphy while Japanese illustrator Akiba Tamami will tell stories with manga.
No street fair would be complete without food, and there will be plenty of it at Japan Block Fair. Several restaurants and culinary personalities will be on hand, including Mimi and Coco (teriyaki balls), Peco Peco (okonomiyaki), Uminoie (yakisoba), Hakata Tonton (pork BBQ), and Ariyoshi (squid BBQ), just to name a few.
Tapping into the popularity of ramen in the city, Japan Block Fair will also feature the New York Street Ramen Contest.
JapanCulture•NYC will be there all day to cover the event, interviewing vendors and visitors alike.
