O•MO•TE•NA•SHI Journey – Dreams In Full Bloom, a musical/dance performance, will be presented as the opening act for Kajiki’s Artist Show, a musical and floral event produced by the International Flower Association (IFA) at Carnegie Hall (Zankel Hall) on November 16.
“The Japanese people call our hospitality ‘omotenashi,’ which stands for warmth, understanding, respect, gratitude and kindness,” says writer and musical director Noriko Sunamoto (Japanese Production of Mamma Mia!, The Phantom of The Opera, Wicked, Tokyo Disney, 702 Punchlines and Pregnant: The Jackie Mason Musical). “O•MO•TE•NA•SHI Journey was performed at the annual Japanese cultural festival Japan Day at Central Park in May 2015 and as an opening act of the Off-Broadway musical comedy The Jackie Mason Musical at St. Luke’s Theatre in June 2015.”
The group added more actors and created a new dance for the Carnegie stage.
Directed by Melvin Tunstall (Beautiful), the production features script supervisor Kirsten Childs (Disney’s “Believe” and “Wishes”), co-playwright Miyuki Kumamoto (Law & Order, The Jim Gaffigan Show), Associate Director Atsushi Eda (Tokyo Disney, Regional Mary Poppins, Guys and Dolls), Brandon Duncan (Off-Broadway Rapunzarella White, Regional Forever Plaid, Spamalot), co-lyricist and choreographer Mary Lauren (The Jackie Mason Musical), Associate Choreographer Chris Kakurai (Tokyo Disney, 30th anniversary Pearl Jubilee, New York ComiCon), Mio Nakanishi (Universal Studio Japan, Regional The King and I, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables), Kevin Necciai, Moeka Matsui and Yuika Iso (TwiN dolls), Popra Nakayama (Off-Broadway Cinderella, Sleepy Hollow), Saki Oyama (New York Jazz Choreography Project, Steps Conservatory, Kalamandir Dance Company), Stacie Cannon, and Yurina Kutsukake (Off-Broadway Sayonara), hairstylist Makoto Sakawaki, photographer Ayaha Otsuka, CG Artist Yukari Akaba, sound designer Ian Wehrle (The Jackie Mason Musical), and recording artists Jillian Schiralli and Christopher Morris. The show’s General Manager is Leslie Nicole Ivery.
Kajiki’s Artist show is a Japanese style bouquet arrangement exhibit organized by the IFA, currently chaired by Toshimi Kajiki. The IFA was founded in 1992 to encourage the practice of flower arranging and to educate floral designers and expanded its branch offices and lesson activities overseas since it went public in 2001.
