Celebrate the Year of the Rat in Brooklyn at this Japanese-style event for the entire family. The Brooklyn Japanese American Family Association presents a special New Year celebration that’s fun for adults and children alike.
Enjoy a delicious selection of Japanese food by BentOn while taking in the entertainment from 10tecomai, Samurai Sword Soul, and the Kaoru Watanabe Taiko Center. Tanaka Taisan will also give a live giant calligraphy performance.
Make Kabuki masks and origami, and play shogi (Japanese chess) and other traditional Japanese New Year games. You won’t want to miss the mochitsuki, or rice pounding ceremony, a Japanese New Year tradition that has an 800-year history.
The Roulette bar will be open for those 21+ looking to add a little buzz to their afternoon.
Celebrate the Year of the Rat with the entire family!
