Tuesday, July 3 from 8:00 p.m. until 9:15 p.m.

Cornelia Street Cafe – 29 Cornelia Street (between W. 4th and Bleecker Streets)

Admission: $10 (with $10 minimum order)

Pianist/composer Mamiko Watanabe has been performing regularly in New York with numerous groups. For this show at Cornelia Street Cafe, she brings her trio – Santi Debriano on bass and Francisco Mela on drums – to present jazz standards as well as some of her compositions from her new CD, Flying Without Wings. This will be the creative set of music in a freestyle.

Earlier this year her new original song “Waterfall” was nominated for the 16th Independent Music Award for Best Song – Jazz Instrumental.

Of Watanabe, Scott Yanow of The Los Angeles Jazz Scene Magazine said, “An excellent modern jazz pianist whose playing builds on the innovations of Bill Evans and early Herbie Hancock . . .” Jazz Inside Magazine wrote, “Like the best piano trios, Watanabe’s threesome has the focus and interplay of a working band.”
