Coppé: 20rpm: NYC Premiere
Saturday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m.
Pete’s Candy Store – 709 Lorimer Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Sunday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m.
ShapeShifter Lab – 18 Whitwell Place, Gowanus, Brooklyn
Coppé will celebrate 20 years of her “phantom” Tokyo record label Mango + Sweet Rice, the home of productions ranging from the warm and ebullient to the starkly experimental. She will present fresh interpretations of global sound collaborations featured on the double-vinyl release 20rpm.
D3pths (programming) + David Ambrosia (acoustic bass) will join Coppé, and there will be special guest appearances by Kaoru Watanabe (taiko, transverse flute), a former director of Japan’s Kodo drum troupe; and the J-Music Ensemble, led by Grammy-nominated saxophonist Patrick Bartley.
