Charan-Po-Rantan Concert + Party

Thursday, October 29 at 8:15 p.m. (Doors and cash bar at 7:00, opening band at 7:30)

Japan Society – 333 E. 47th Street (between First and Second Avenues)

Tickets: $25/$20 Japan Society members

The sprightly duo Charan-Po-Rantan, sisters Koharu (accordion) and Momo (vocals), bring a performance that blends French chanson, gypsy music, retro ’50s and ’60s J-pop, and a pinch of Russian melancholy to Japan Society. Known for their original music as well as their covers of retro Japanese popular songs, the two perform within a rainbow of unpredictable visuals and stylings. With lyrics brimming with wit and black humor and costumes that would put any trick-or-treater to shame, Charan-Po-Rantan is sure to ring in the perfect start to your Halloween weekend.

The night includes the New York-based jazz combo The Red Birds and a Charan-Po-Rantan-inspired Halloween fête with a signature Charan-tail cocktail. Be sure to wear a colorful costume!

Charan will also be part of Japan Society’s Obake Family Day, where they’ll be playing live in their very own haunted circus tent, so be sure to bring the family!
