New York Red Bulls defender and Japanese native Kosuke Kimura visited the Hospital for Special Surgery with teammate Ian Christiansen on September 20. The two athletes spent time with pediatric patients in the Lerner Children’s Pavilion and throughout the hospital.
It was Kimura’s second trip to the Hospital for Special Surgery. The 29-year-old Kobe native signed autographs and posed for photos with the patients in the Lerner Children’s Pavilion. In the physical therapy gym, he led patients and physical therapists in a planking challenge.
The trip was part of the Red Bulls’ “11 Days of Service” in September, a community program in conjunction with September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Kimura is the first Japanese player in MLS history. The Red Bulls lead the Eastern Conference, clinching a playoff spot on Saturday, October 5.
