Sake Social Sunday

Via Zoom:

Admission: Free

The American Sake Association is hosting a Sake Social this Sunday! This week, we will be using a new format that will allow us to have a fun and lively discussion with Sake Industry hosts to lead the way! All attendees can join in the group chat, ask questions and raise your hand if you want to speak or join us on camera, too!  We have a fun agenda set up for this week!  Here is what’s new!

  • We’re moving to a hosted discussion format. Two hosts will be our guides each week, lead the discussion, and interact with all attendees!
  • Attendees (that’s you!) can join the group chat, watch and listen to the discussion, ask questions and “raise your hand” to join the discussion and share your camera!
  • Special guest interview: We’ll be featuring a sake VIP for an interview each week, too.

This week, our hosts will be Chris Johnson, the Sake Ninja, and Michelle Hand, Hospitality industry maven! Chris and Michelle will lead a discussion on “How I fell in love with sake.” If you’d like to share, please come prepared with your stories of how you had your sake “AHA!” moment.

And next comes our sake VIP interview! Chris and Michelle will chat with Mr. Genki Ito, founder of, the premier online retailer for sake in the United States.
Tippsy launched in November 2019 and quickly became the largest online retailer for Japanese sake in the U.S., rebuilding the culture and community around this foreign alcoholic drink to make it a fun and casual experience for everyone. Tippsy offers 200+ products for under-served consumers along with a subscription sake box for new drinkers to cultivate a market.

All are welcome to take part so please join us this Sunday if you can! Even if it is just to say a quick hello, we’d love to stay in touch with all of you.

Let’s connect and support each other as best we can. Stay safe and be well! KANPAI!

How to join the Sake Social Chat:

  • Grab a sake and be ready to KANPAI (Cheers!)
