Meredith 4th Floor Lounge – 225 Liberty Place
Admission: $500 VIP/$350 General Admission
The Gohan Society’s benefit, New York Chefs Celebrate Japan, is a spectacular culinary showcase featuring the finest chefs in New York City and premium Wagyu beef, tuna, yellowtail, and other delicacies from Japan.
The non-profit organization will honor Michelin Star Chefs Michael Anthony of Gramercy Tavern in New York City and Shin Takagi of the renowned Zeniya in Kanazawa, Japan, which will be featured on an upcoming episode of Andrew Zimmern’s television show Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations on the Travel Channel on Saturday, October 6. The Japanese Ambassador to the United Nations will present the chefs with the Washoku Ambassador Award. Zimmern himself will attend the event to auction off an amazing, one-of-a-kind live auction item: dinner for 14 prepared by Chef Anthony, Zimmern, and Chef Gavin Kaysen of Spoon and Stable in Minneapolis at the winner’s home.
Chef Anthony and Chef Takagi have collaborated in the past, and they are both active supporters of The Gohan Society’s U.S.-Japan Culinary Cultural Exchange Chefs Scholarship Program. They embody the spirit of collaboration between the U.S. and Japan.
Proceeds will benefit The Gohan Society’s scholarship program, which sends U.S.-based chefs to Japan, where they will experience a truly genuine and unforgettable culinary adventure.
