The State of Things
Thursday, April 23 from noon until 1:00 p.m.
There is a complex of factors related to a pandemic that artists and the art community face. Among them are individual losses, massive layoffs, overwhelming mental issues, and domestic violence. In these tough times, it is crucial for us as a community to create forums where we come together as creative individuals and make sense of the crisis that affects us on such a profound level.
Graciela Cassel and Monica Vila, directors of the Transborder Art TV Series, will host a conversation about the effects of the pandemic on the art community. They invited some of the brightest minds from across disciplines: artists, art educators, and curators who will share their artistic practices and reflect on the current “State Of Things.”
Yasmeen Abdallahan—Interdisciplinary artist, activist and independent curator
Tara Foley—Artist and a long time educator in the non-profit art sector
Katie Hector—Artist, curator, and writer
Kyoko Sato—A director of the Asian Programming at the WhiteBox Harlem
Kathie Halfin—An interdisciplinary artist, performer and an educator who was invited by the Transborder Art TV Series to curate this panel and moderate the event
