Celebrate WAGYU this weekend at not one, but TWO street fairs dedicated to amazing Japanese beef!
“Wagyu” literally means “Japanese beef,” and it encompasses the meat produced by four breeds of cattle: Japanese Black, Japanese Polled, Japanese Brown, and Japanese Shorthorn. You’ve probably heard of Kobe beef; it’s just one type of Wagyu, which is raised in several regions in Japan. The characteristic marbling in Wagyu contributes to its tenderness, juiciness, and delicious flavor. Wagyu is also considered to be a healthy type of beef because it contains mono-unsaturated fats and omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.

Presented by JAPAN Fes., WAGYU x Japan Food Town is a two-day event that will take place in the West Village on Saturday and in Times Square on Sunday. Visitors can enjoy Wagyu in a variety of ways.
Types of Wagyu Dishes
- WAGYU Burger
- WAGYU Curry
- WAGYU Cutlet (Menchi Katsu)
- WAGYU Grilled Shabu Shabu Salad
- WAGYU Grilled Shabu Shabu Don
- WAGYU fat French Fries
- WAGYU Steak
Wagyu, Wagyu, Wagyu! All of these dishes contain 100% Japanese Wagyu. LOOK EAST NY, a New York-based Japanese Wagyu distributor, carefully selected the cuts and imported the beef directly from Japan.
Wagyu and What Else?
There will be more than beef at the WAGYU x Japan Food Town street fairs. Cream puffs and fluffy pancakes are among the multitude of sweets you’ll find, as well as non-Japanese dishes such as arepas and baozi buns. In addition to food, you can purchase kimono, tenugui, toys, records, and folk art. Three shops from Japan will be here just for this weekend. They are Denden Inc and Yuzuya from Saitama and Columbia8 from Osaka. Don’t miss this special opportunity!
There is no charge to enter the street fairs, but each vendor will charge for its products. The events will take place rain or shine. For more information and a full list of vendors, please visit JAPAN Fes.’s website or their event pages on Facebook for July 13 and July 14.
