March 14 is White Day in Japan, a day when Japanese men give chocolate to women. You’re probably asking, “Shouldn’t they do that on Valentine’s Day?” On Valentine’s Day in Japan, women give chocolate to men.
One month later, on March 14, men reciprocate their friends’ and co-workers’ kindness. Advertisements reminding men to buy chocolate were seen all over Tokyo, like this one at the Shiodome JR station.
I was pleasantly surprised to receive chocolate on White Day, courtesy of my friend Wayne Graczyk, TV broadcaster and columnist for The Japan Times. Yummy chocolate!!!!!
