Congratulations to the winners of the JapanCulture•NYC/Japan Society giveaway!
Natasha Phillips and David Powers were the first two people to answer moga, a common theme found in Japanese Art Deco. Short for “Modern Girl,” the moga on songbooks, matchbook covers, movie posters, and high-end paintings represented the new independent Japanese woman that emerged during the 1920s and ‘30s.

For her quick Facebooking, Natasha won a Deco Japan catalogue and two passes to see the exhibit, which contains many examples of moga and runs through June 10.
David won two pairs of passes to j-CATION 2012: Sakura, an all-day culture fest taking place at Japan Society this Saturday, April 14.

Congratulations again to Natasha and David! Very special thanks go to Japan Society for providing the amazing prizes!
